I don't think one can compare e-readers and smart-phones. The advantages of reading a book are obvious on a Kindle or similar device over a smartphone. The target consumer may be in some sub segment of the smartphone market. I don't think Kindle is a bad product, it's just taking a while to become mainstream.

I think the kindle would be an awesome product.....If the iphone or blackberry didn't exist.
